Turkish-flagged Vessels Collide Off Istanbul

Maritime Mayhem in the Marmara In the early hours of Wednesday morning, the Istanbul governor's office issued an alert announcing a collision between two Turkish flagged commercial vessels off the coast of Silivri, a district on the European side of the city.

The incident has raised questions about safety protocols for maritime traffic in one of the world's busiest shipping lanes.

The Alsu, a chemical tanker en route to Aliaga in the Aegean region, collided with the Tugberk Imamoglu, a bulk carrier headed for Karadenizeregli on the Black Sea.
